Bond Forming Event for the March 2012 Intake!

            On the 14th April 2012, the Bioscience Club 2012/2013 committee held a ‘bond-forming’ event for the new intake of students for the School of Biosciences! 

It was a treasure hunt (yay!) where students have to go from station to station with clues given out at each station after they complete a task. A total of roughly 30 students attended and are separated into 5 groups. There were a total of 5 stations that day, where students could opt to complete a task to get the next clue, or they may pay a total of 19 Taylor’s Dollars out of the 20 they were given at the start of the game to skip the challenge. 

At Kai Yen’s station, participants had to transfer water from a bucket at the top of a slope to another bucket at the bottom of the slope using a leaky scoop. How are we going to do that fast?!  No matter! We have to do it fast to WIN! 

At Lee Yan’s station, participants were required to find the letters B, I, O, S, C, I, E, N, C, E, C, L, U and B in a bucket filled with scraps of newspaper and spell out the words ‘BIOSCIENCE CLUB’ in the shortest time possible! Oh man, we need tentacle hands!! 

At Chen Chiang’s station, participants were required to play a game of dodgeball with the organizers! They say, time for WAR!! After winning, they had to catch water balloons thrown by their group members. Only after they manage to pass the dodge ball stage and successfully catch 10 water balloons, they were given the next clue to move onto the next station! 

*At this point I think they were getting some serious exhausting fun!*

At Muhaimin’s station, participants were required to find 15 different number sequences hidden inside a maze of numbers. The ''a-maze-ing'' thing was that the maze was hand-made by Wai Kit (pun intended of course! ;) One team decided to spend their Taylor’s Dollars on this station to avoid wasting time. Only after managing to find all 15 numbers, the participants were given the next clue to the next station.

At the last station, participants were required to drop an egg from the height of one and half stories. The only protection the egg was allowed to have were old newspapers wrapped around it! 

After finishing all 5 stations, the participants were required to run back to the basketball court which was the starting line and also the finish line. The winner was Group 2, the first runner-up was Group 1, while the second runner-up went to Group 3.

Overall, the event was successful in strengthening the bond between the members who attended the event. Hopefully, the juniors will feel more comfortable (and possibly act CRAZY! ;)  around their seniors and may their time at Taylor’s University be as much joy as they had during the event.
